Abstract:The purpose of the International Nutritional Anemia Consultative Group (INACG) is to guide international activities aimed at reducing iron deficiency anemia (IDA) and other nutritionally preventable anemias worldwide. In fulfilling this mandate, INACG sponsors scientific reviews and convenes task force groups to analyze issues related to the etiology, treatment, and prevention of ID and IDA. INACG publishes guidelines and recommendations based on the work of these task force groups. Examination of these issues is important for the establishment of public policy and action programs. This report summarizes the 2001 International Nutritional Anemia Consultative Group Symposium organized by the INACG.
