A Review of the Environmental Safety of the Cry2Ab Protein

This document provides an updated comprehensive review of the information and data relevant to the environmental risk assessment of Cry2Ab, a protein encoded by genes isolated from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), and it presents a summary statement about the environmental safety of this protein when produced in genetically engineered (GE) crops. The original version of this review was published in 2013 (AFSI, 2013). All sources of information reviewed herein are publicly available and include dossiers presented to regulatory authorities, decision documents prepared by regulatory authorities, product descriptions prepared by product developers, and peer-reviewed literature.
