“The Road out of Poverty”: 2017 Borlaug Dialogue International Symposium

    October 18, 2017-October 20, 2017
    Des Moines, Iowa, USA

The World Food Prize is the foremost international honor recognizing — without regard to race, religion, nationality, or political beliefs — the achievements of individuals who have advanced human development by improving the quality, quantity or availability of food in the world. The World Food Prize emphasizes the importance of a nutritious and sustainable food supply for all people. By honoring those who have worked successfully toward this goal, The Prize calls attention to what has been done to improve global food security and to what can be accomplished in the future.

The Agriculture & Food Systems Institute attended the “Borlaug Dialogue,” a three-day symposium held each October in conjunction with the presentation of the World Food Prize, that brings together international experts, policy leaders, business executives and farmers to address cutting-edge issues in global food security and nutrition. The event which regularly attracts over 1,000 participants from more than 50 countries, has been referred to as “the premier conference in the world on global agriculture.”
