OECD Working Party on the Harmonisation of Regulatory Oversight in Biotechnology (WP-HROB) Annual Meeting

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Working Party on the Harmonisation of Regulatory Oversight in Biotechnology (WP-HROB) works on technical issues related to the environmental risk/safety assessment of organisms that are produced through modern biotechnology. Work products, such as the plant biology documents, which form the baseline for comparative assessments, are developed by the group and finalized through a consensus process. The group involves OECD member countries, observer countries, as well as recognized observer organizations–including the Agriculture & Food Systems Institute (AFSI).

This year’s meeting of the WP-HROB will take place in The Hague, the Netherlands, on April 22-24, 2026. Drs. Andrew Roberts and Bhavneet Bajaj, representing AFSI, will attend the meeting and, in particular, contribute to discussions on the progress of drafting the OECD Consensus Document on the Biology of Mosquito Anopheles gambiae and the WP-HROB and WP-SNFF joint project on “Moving Towards ‘Safe(r) Innovation Approach’ in the Context of Modern Biotechnology.”
